As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Fast-Aperture Prime
An optically advanced wide-angle prime, the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens from Sigma mixes a comfortable focal length with an especially fast design. It offers a fast f/1.4 aperture, which is ideal for low lighting conditions, narrow depth of field and ample background separation for portraiture.

Hyper Sonic Motor Autofocus
Complementing the imaging capabilities, the lens sports an integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) that realizes quick and quiet autofocusing, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

The optical layout incorporates One F Low Dispersion (FLD) element and four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements which help to improve sharpness and clarity by controlling both spherical and chromatic aberrations. A floating elements system is also used to maintain performance throughout the focusing range. A Super Multi-Layer Coating helps to minimize flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

The 35mm A1’s build quality offers a substantial improvement over previous Sigma lenses. The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability. Additionally, rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount design to render it dust- and splash-resistant.

Movri Canada, providing the mail-delivery system, is set out to make the gear available at more affordable prices through online rentals.

Manual Override function is unavailable with this camera. Full-time manual function can be offered. When using a Sigma interchangeable lens, setting the corrections to 'Disable' is recommended, as 'Lens Correction' functions of the camera (such as Peripheral Illumination Correction, Chromatic Aberration Correction, Diffraction Correction, and Distortion Correction) are not supported.

  • As of 08/2017, Sigma issued the following warning, which includes the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon:
We have found that some Sigma interchangeable lenses for Canon are not fully compatible with the 6D Mark II, 77D, Rebel T7i, Rebel SL2. When attached to these cameras and the 'Lens aberration correction' function is on and these cameras are set to 'Enable' for Live View shooting, then an error will occur. Please set the 'Lens aberration correction' function of these cameras to 'Disable' when using Sigma's interchangeable lenses for Canon.
